Gummy Bears and Final Preparations

We leave for Disney on Thursday, and couldn't be more excited! I am so proud of Dan and our fellow teammates for what they are about to do! I am jealous that I won't be able to participate, but I will be cheering them on every step of the way. I am sure I will post pictures when we return.

Speaking of pictures, check out our latest ultrasound photo. I am now 9 weeks, 3 days along. It's so amazing that the little dot on the screen has changed so much in such a short time! Doesn't it look a little like a gummy bear?

The head is to the right of the screen, and you can see the abdomen and limb buds as well. Isn't he/she cute?

Well, THAT'S a horse of a different color!

Dear Friends,

Oh, has it really been since the beginning of November that I last posted??? Not many people read this anymore, but certainly not if I never put anything up!

I actually have intentionally been staying away from the blog, as I have a secret to share, but we all know how bad I am with keeping secrets, so I was afraid I would bl0w it!

Drum roll please..................

I'm PREGNANT!!!!! We are just completely over the moon! I am 8 weeks officially today-- our due date is August 7th, 2008. We have been having lots of ultrasounds to make sure everything is progressing as it should. Today, our "dot" on the screen went from a little blob to something that resembled a blob with a head and rear end. It's just amazing how things change so fast!

So what does that mean for the marathon? Well, unfortunately, I have had to drop from the race. I had a long discussion with my doctor about it, and all things considered, it's just not a good idea right now. If I had been a runner my entire life, maybe things would be different. But as he put it, the marathon will always be there. Right now I have to focus on growing a healthy person.

Dan will still do the full marathon, though I am a little concerned about his training. He hasn't been keeping up with it as much as he had for San Diego, and last weekend missed the big 20 mile practice. Poor thing came down with a stomach virus just before Christmas, and was too sick to leave the house, let alone walk 20 miles in a row! I know he'll be fine, but I just worry that his training has been inconsistent.

So that's where we are. We continue to fundraise, so if you are so inclined, we would appreciate you help to reach our goal. Thanks for checking in!

Good News and Bad News

The Good News is:
We've finally made our travel plans, and are extending our vacation in Disney for 3 days (I will be there a full week, Dan will be there for 5)! And, drumroll please... we are staying at the GRAND FLORIDIAN... I am so spoiled it's not even funny. I am so excited I can't even see straight!

The Bad News is:
I need to get my act (ahem) in gear, or I will be crying my way to the bus that drives you to the end! I really really really need to get it together. I have a little more than 2 months to go, and I need to train HARD! I guess it's just that my life is so crazy right now, with the new job coming up, etc. I am overwhelmed!

Did anyone read that Katie freakin' Holmes ran the NYC marathon???? Seriously??? As if being rich and gorgeous and thin and a mom isn't bad enough. She RAN A MARATHON! It's not fair. And, to wit, she finished only an hour and a half longer than it took me to do a HALF marathon. I'm disgusted.

See? Stuff like this makes me want to hang up my running shoes, sit on the couch, and drown my sorrows in some Oreo Double Stuffs! But at least my husband doesn't believe that God is actually an alien, and he's never gone crazy and jumped on Oprah's couch.

Oh, who are we kidding? Pass the cookies, please.
